Durgawati Project Dam popularly known as Karamchat Dam on river Durgawati is one of the most preferred tourist sites in Kaimur district. Situated at a distance of 37 kilometers south east to Kaimur district headquarters town Bhabua, the 1615.4 meter long and 46.3 meter high dam is set amidst beautiful sceneries of hills and forests full of different species of wildlife and birds.

The reservoir spread over 627.5 square kilometers catchment area with capacity of 287.7 million cubic meter (mcm) water storage is surrounded with dense forests and hill residing a variety of flora and fauna mesmerizing the tourists.

Green crops flanking the 29 canals and channels irrigating 34,000 hectare of lands in Kaimur and Rohtas districts, provide an unforgettable pleasant experience to the visitors.Hundreds of people visit here with families on weekends to enjoy picnic and several to be refreshed from day to day tensions.

Taxies are available from Bhabua, Mohania, Sasaram, Kudra and Chenari for tourists and visitors through all weather roads. The place has also road and rail link from Varanasi and Gaya. District administration is working to provide boating facilities, light-sound show in dam water and also a beautiful guest house with standard housing and lodging facilities for tourists.
